Public comment is open — and community input matters. This is your opportunity to speak directly to the Commission about how these proposals would impact access to California's marine resources.

SIGN THE COALITION LETTER
Wednesday, January 21st, 2026
The joint Commission letter has officially been submitted.
This letter represents a shared position from a broad coalition of organizations and individuals across recreational, commercial, and scientific communities—representing tens of thousands of ocean stakeholders statewide.
The more voices the the better. Click the link below and scroll to the bottom of the page to sign the letter and be heard.
***This letter remains available as a resource and reflects the coalition's position and rationale on the MPA petitions. We encourage you to read it for full context on where we stand and why.

Submit your letters to fgc@fgc.ca.gov
This is one of the most powerful ways you can help, by submitting written letters in opposition to the proposed MPAs. By sharing your stories and highlighting the importance of maintaining access to our coast, we can build a collective opposition to harmful policies.
A good place to start your letter is with 'My name is XXXX XXXXXX, I'm from XXXXXXXXX, and I am speaking to oppose/express concerns/etc with (whatever Petition, MPA, Closure of our Coast, etc), specifically for (your geographic area which is being affected) the proposals for new (or expanded) state marine reserves in XXXXXX...' Be sure to include personal anecdotes and stories of what the ocean means to you, your family, and friends!
Submit your letter to this email address fgc@fgc.ca.gov or visit https://fgc.ca.gov/Contact
